Steel structure is an important material used in construction, in order to achieve a long service life and aesthetic degree, usually choose some paint spraying on it, there are a lot of steel structure manufacturers in the appearance of the spraying time to choose the corresponding cheap traditional paint, it is obvious that this will cause environmental pollution and health effects. Water-based architectural steel structure coating is a new type of coating that can replace the traditional coating, which can be applied in the industry. The Ministry of Housing and Construction pointed out in "Going All Out to Grasp the Key Work in 2020" that it will vigorously develop building energy-saving and green buildings, promote the pilot construction of steel structure assembled residential buildings, and promote the transformation of construction methods. This includes: actively carrying out pilot construction of steel-structured assembled farm houses and design activities in the countryside, and improving the quality of design and construction of farm houses. This will further expand the market for construction steel structures and increase the application of steel structures in the residential market.


With the construction of landmark buildings (such as the China Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, Shanghai Center Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Disneyland, etc.) in recent years have used waterborne coatings, driving the trend of adopting waterborne coatings in architectural design institutes. In addition, provinces have also put forward clear requirements for VOC emissions from steel structure coating process and made implementation programs to vigorously promote the application of water-based architectural steel structure coatings.

Advantages of water-based architectural steel structure coatings


The most critical part of waterborne architectural steel structure coating is waterborne primer, which accounts for 89% in the whole waterborne architectural steel structure coating. Waterborne primer is mainly based on waterborne inorganic zinc-rich primer, and there are many domestic coating enterprises producing waterborne inorganic zinc-rich primer, with more mature manufacturing and construction technology, and the market share reaches 60%~70%. Followed by water-based acrylic coatings and water-based alkyd coatings. Water-based epoxy primer and water-based polyurethane topcoat supporting system is also in the application.


For the national new infrastructure projects and the renovation of old neighborhoods, green and environmentally friendly water-based architectural steel structure coatings will also be further developed in the market, and water-based architectural steel structure coatings are likely to maintain a high growth rate of more than 20%.
